A Chinese marathoner has chosen to practice running in his own apartment as he couldn’t go outside as usual due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Health professional and amateur marathoner Pan Shancu (Hangzhou) has taken the small space in his apartment as a running track.
He put two tables together to run around as well as make use of his corridors and balconies to run a distance up to 50km.
According to Pan, a man who used to run the best marathon at 2 hours 59 minutes, he ran a total of about 6,250 laps in the apartment.
“I have not been out for many days but today I cannot sit down anymore,” he wrote on social media.
“I ran around two large tables in the middle of the room, each about 8m long and I ran 50km in 4 hours 48 minutes 44 seconds. I was sweating and had a great feeling ”.
The Chinese marathoner also said he was paying close attention not to disturb the neighbors by stepping slightly instead of stomping.
A pandemic of the new strain of coronary pneumonia virus, also known as Covid-19, has so far killed more than 1,300 and more than 60,000 people, mainly in China, especially in the city of Wu Han.
The outbreak of coronavirus began in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China in late 2019, and has now spread to at least 28 countries and territories around the world.
Chinese health expert Zhong Nanshan said on February 11 that the number of new infections in China was declining in some provinces and that the epidemic could peak this month before ending in April.
