A man who had been blind for 20 years was suddenly able to see again after being hit in a car accident while crossing the road.
About 20 years ago, Janusz Goraj (living in the city of Gorzow Wielkopolski, Poland) had a side effect of a severe allergy that left his left eye completely blind while his right eye could only differentiating between light and dark.
Goraj’s life is almost in the dark. But on one day of 2018, a miracle happened. Janusz was walking to the street when a car hit him. Goraj’s head hit the hood and smashed into the ground. His hip also suffered serious injuries that required surgery. No one thought that such an horrible car accident could contain miraculous blessings.
After the accident, Janusz Goraj was hospitalized for several weeks. One day, when he opened his eyes, Goraj was shocked to see everything more clearly than the light and shadows like before the accident. Goraj told the doctor about this and no one could explain to him why there was such a miracle.
“His eyesight improved quickly in 2 weeks. We don’t know the reason why, probably because he took many drugs after surgery, ”said Agnieszka Wisniewska, spokesman for the Independent Public Provincial Hospital.
Goraj’s strange case was officially reported in 2018 but only caught the attention of the public when a major newspaper published it last month.
To date, no one knows exactly what has helped restore this man’s vision. However, some health experts argue that it has nothing to do with the accident but that the patient has been using a lot of anticoagulants and other drugs.
When he left the hospital, Goraj could see people on the street, see the license plates of cars, read the messages on his phone. “What a turning point in life!” Goraj exclaimed.
Janusz Goraj currently refuses to participate in medical studies to answer the question of why he is recovering his eyesight. According to Polsat, Goraj wanted to lead a normal life and become a security guard at the hospital where he first saw it again.
“There may have been a coincidence between your desire to work and the fact that he was working at our hospital,” Wisniewska said.
